Next Tuesday, October 15, WFUV and The Alternate Side will host our own showcase, FUV Live at CMJ, at Rockwood Music Hall from 5-9pm. Lucius releases its debut album, Wildewoman, on the same day of the FUV Live at CMJ showcase, October 15, on Mom + Pop Records. The album is streaming this week via WFUV and NPR Music. FUV caught up with Lucius ' Jess Wolfe - who also moonlights in the band San Fermin with Holly Laessig - and asked her what Lucius feels they might discover about themselves as a quintet at this year's CMJ. "It's always interesting playing festivals like CMJ or SXSW," said Wolfe, "when you have minimal-to-no-time for soundcheck and your changeovers are rushed, but what's cool.
The Hits Album is a compilation album compiled by Sony Music TV and BMG and released in the UK in August 1991. The album is considered an extension of the Hits series which originally launched in 1984. Although often listed as The Hits Album 15 in chart statistic books such as The Complete Book of British Charts, this was actually the fourteenth volume of the series. The mistake was made by the compilers, who gave the album the catalogue number CDHITS15.
The album, Rush’s second live recording, was a re-affirmation of their progressive rock musical beliefs ( We didn’t change, everybody else did! say the liner notes) and is a favourite among their fans. You can hear the audience singing along on ‘Closer To The Heart’, and other highlights include ‘Red Barchetta’, ‘Beneath, Between And Behind’ and ‘Jacob’s Ladder’. The Live! version of ‘No Woman, No Cry’ immediately became the definitive recording of the song, which is enough to earn its parent album a place among the best live albums. The recording also became Bob Marley’s first hit, reaching N. 2 in the UK chart when it was released as a single in 1975. It would later reach N. in the UK when it was re-released after Marley’s death, in 1981; while it never charted in the US, the song would later be ranked at N. 7 in Rolling Stone’s Greatest Songs Of All Time.
