The interesting fact about this live release is that it is taken from only one night at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in 73 just after the release of the SABB album, and the sound is simply fantastic. Recorded at the Concergebouw in Amsterdam on November 23rd 1973 and released almost 25 years later, The Night Watch is an amazing live recording by a band at the top of their game.

1999 live album by King Crimson. Cirkus: The Young Persons' Guide to King Crimson Live. Live album by. King Crimson. Tracks 3 & 4 recorded at the Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA, 15 December 1969. Some 1973 Amsterdam performances have also been released as The Night Watch (1997), however, this time around, the mix is different. And of course, there’s some d live music, too. This set puts all this work into one full package. There’s also a CD of music from a Paris TV broadcast and the 2011 mix of the studio album that appeared after these shows - Starless and Bible Black. The album is also featured on a DVD with . surround sound, original and new mixes, and additional audio  . Doctor Diamond (Live, June 23rd 1973, Richards Club, Atlanta, Georgia). Guts On My Side (Live, March 19th 1974, Palazzo dello Sport, Udine, Italy).

The Nightwatch: Live at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw 1973. Recorded in it's entirety, this is the first live King Crimson album that includes such classics as "Elephant Talk," "Heartbeat," "Matte Kuasai" and "Sleepless. This is the 3rd in the King Crimson archive series following Epitaph (Live in 1969) and the Night Watch (Live in 1973).

The version of King Crimson that released Larks' Tongues In Aspic (DGM, 1973) was by far the heaviest and most guitar- centric version of Crimson to date. The previous band, featuring recently-deceased bassist/singer Boz Burrell, Mel Collins and drummer Ian Wallace, had fallen apart on tour, with everyone except Fripp hell-bent on moving towards a more rock and blues-centric approach. While it seemed a curious choice at the time, anyone familiar with Bruford's subsequent career knows that in many ways he's a perpetual student, making the majority of his career choices based on art rather than commerce. Bassist/vocalist John Wetton was a member of Family, a curious but distinctive group that never achieved the success it deserved.
