Текст песни: Won’t you scratch my itch sweet Annie Rich And welcome me back to town Come out on your porch or I’ll step into your parlour And I’ll show you how it all went down.

Gram Parsons fondness for drugs and high living are said to have been catching up with him while he was recording Grievous Angel, and sadly he wouldn't live long enough to see it reach record stores, dying from a drug overdose in the fall of 1973. This album is a less ambitious and unified set than his solo debut, but that's to say that .

But regardless of how crucial her contributions to Grievous Angel are, this is Gram’s record, and while Emmylou’s role is integral to the album, it’s Gram’s vision that she elevates. The degree to which Emmylou compliments the music on Grievous Angel is instantly apparent on the title track, a song which lays out all the best qualities of the album as a whole without overshadowing the rest of the songs.

Written-By – Gram Parsons. Grievous Angel ‎(LP, Album, Pit).

Gram Parsons was loath to describe his music as country-rock. He preferred the phrase cosmic American music to express his sonic stew of blues, country, soul, gospel, and rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until his sophomore solo album, Grievous Angel, that this vision was fully formed-despite a looser musicianship on his part due to substance abuse catching up with him. This is evident with a puffier-faced Parsons on the album cover and his slack vocals contrasting Emmylou Harris’ in-the-pocket singing in the opening duet, Return of the Grievous Angel.

Grievous Angel is the second solo album by Gram Parsons, compiled from summer 1973 sessions and released four months after his death from a morphine and alcohol overdose in September 1973. Grievous Angel peaked at number 195 on the Billboard charts. Despite its modest sales, it is viewed as a successful example of the hybrid between country and rock and roll Parsons called "Cosmic American Music". Recording and composition. The sessions for Grievous Angel took place at Wally Heider Studio 4 in Hollywood with Parsons producing. In a 2013 Uncut cover story about Parsons's solo work, acoustic guitarist Herb Peterson recalls to David Cavanagh that when the singer showed up he was a mess: "He came in late.
