Little Sonny (born Aaron Willis, October 6, 1932, Greensboro, Alabama).

Goin' Down Slow is an album by saxophonist Sonny Stitt recorded in 1972 and released on the Prestige label. Miss Ann, Lisa, Sue and Sadie" (Sonny Stitt) - 14:10. Where Is Love?" (Lionel Bart) - 4:23. Livin' Without You" (Randy Newman) - 7:30. Goin' Down Slow" (James Oden) - 3:54. Moving Beauty" (Traditional) - 3:48.

Goin' Down Slow" or "Going Down Slow" is a blues song composed by American blues singer St. Louis Jimmy Oden. It is considered a blues standard and "one of the most famous blues of all". Goin' Down Slow" has been recorded by many blues and other artists, including a noteworthy version by Howlin' Wolf with narration by Willie Dixon. A rendition by Bobby Bland was a hit in both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts.

Sonny Stitt was in one of his prime periods during the early '70s and this LP finds him in particularly creative form. Best is the 14-minute "Miss Ann, Lisa, Sue and Sadie" which features Stitt, trumpeter Thad Jones, guitarist Billy Butler, and pianist Hank Jones soloing over a small string section; Jones' arrangement is quite memorable.

Going Down Slow has Sonny hitting a groove that's a bit more laidback than some of his funkier albums for Prestige, but one that's still pretty darn great overall! The sound is almost in a Stanley Turrentine mode at CTI - with fuller arrangements behind his saxophone solos, and a really easygoing groove throughout! . Miss Ann, Lisa, Sue And Sadie Where Is Love?
