Unquestionable Presence is the second album by the death metal band Atheist. It was released in 1991 and added a new sound by using jazz-like harmonies, subtle Latin rhythms and unusual time signatures. It is considered a landmark album in the genre of technical death metal. Bassist Roger Patterson wrote the bass lines for Unquestionable Presence, but died in a touring van accident before the recording sessions took place

Elements is the third studio album released by American technical death metal band Atheist. It was released on August 30, 1993 by Music for Nations in Europe and by Metal Blade Records in the US. Elements was reissued by Relapse Records in 2005 and was digitally remastered with the addition of six bonus tracks.
Unquestionable Presence" is the 2nd full-length studio album by US, Florida based e metal act Atheist. The album was released through Active Records in August 1991. Itīs the successor to "Piece of Time" from 1989 and features one lineup change since the predecessor as bassist Roger Patterson sadly died in a car crash in February 1991 while on tour with the band. Atheist is an unique band, blending elements of jazz and death metal into one. Their second album, Unquestionable Presence, if often seen as their masterpiece. I'm not sure where those thoughts come from though, as I don't hear much more than a good album in it. Don't get me wrong here. Unquestionable Presence is a very innovative and interesting album, featuring some great pieces of music. The album opener, "Mother Man", for example is one of those tracks.
Unquestionable Presence serves as a sort of bridge between the two, proving that wherever direction Atheist took their music, they always did it well. Atheist: Kelly Shaefer - Vocals, Guitar Rand Burkey - Guitar Tony Choy - Bass Marcell Disantos - Drums. Though after "Piece of Time" was released and people expected more greatness from Atheist, the group almost didn't make it to their second album. After releasing their first record, the group embarked on a brief tour. Being talented in every aspect of their craft, the members of Atheist not only showed their incredible instrumental technique with their second album, they also proved their worth as songwriters. All of the songs on "Unquestionable Presence" are extremely sensible lengths with nothing even hitting the five minute mark. The entire album itself is a perfect length, though short at just over 30 minutes.
Indeed, whereas 1989's Piece of Time had been a shock, 1991's Unquestionable Presence was a revelation. With their sparing but highly effective use of melody (mostly nuances and accents during solos and choruses), challenging songs like "Unquestionable Presence," "Your Life's Retribution," and "Enthralled in Essence" advanced Atheist's uncompromisingly dense "death-jazz" to previously unscaled heights
