Accidentals of the West by David Goodrich MP3. Prelude. Accidentals of the West. Live albums are possible. Ask me if there are questions.
David Goodrich begins Accidentals of the West with a simple prelude, laying out his quiet, tasteful approach to instrumental music. In "Falling," he makes clear that he's more interested in creating atmosphere by carefully layering his instruments than showing off with flashy guitar licks. Most of the compositions here are original, and Goodrich handles all of the instrumental work himself. His choice to multi-track guitars, banjos, and mandolins separates him from numerous solo players in the acoustic instrumental market.

After its performances at SXSW, The Accidentals were labeled by Billboard as a "breakout ac. That's pretty high praise - and well. A good starting place for this band is "The Silence" - the lead track on the band's album Bittersweet. Not only does the song feature all of the aforementioned instruments, but also some amazing vocals reminiscent of Harriet Wheeler of The Sundays. While the vocals are wonderfully charming, the lyrics are too. It feels like you're listening to a poem set to music. The band just announced its first tour of the west coast, which will include a stop at The Hotel Cafe on April 13.
