Mary Virginia Martin (December 1, 1913 – November 3, 1990) was an American Tony Award-winning star of stage, film and screen. She received the Donaldson Award and the New York Film Critics Circle Award in 1943 for "One Touch of Venus". In 1955 she received a Tony for "Peter Pan", in 1956 she received an Emmy for appearing in the same role on television. She also received Tony Awards for "South Pacific" and "The Sound of Music". She was honored for her career achievements by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, . Mary Ann Lamb (3 December 1764 – 20 May 1847) was an English writer. She is best known for the collaboration with her brother Charles on the collection Tales from Shakespeare. Lamb suffered from mental illness, and in 1796 she stabbed her mother to death during a mental breakdown. She was confined to mental facilities off and on for most of her life. She and Charles presided over a literary circle in London that included the poets William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, among others.
Martin also recorded Adventures for Readers for book publisher Harcourt, released in 1958. In April 1957, she recorded the LP Mary Martin Sings, Richard Rodgers Plays for RCA Victor, performing Rodgers songs to piano accompaniment by the composer and an orchestra; the album was released in 1958.
