AFI - The Blood Album album flac
From front to back, this may be AFI's best album since Sing the Sorrow, and I predict will be on many BEST OF 2017 lists. I honestly enjoy growing and evolving with a band, and have the upmost respect for bands that are willing to experiment, and follow their muse in creating what is right for them at the time. It took me 2 complete listens to recognize and appreciate the record, and am proud to say 'I LOVE IT!', and that AFI (The Blood Album) is a true Masterpiece, in my opinion; and that it will be bring me comfort for many years to come. Enjoy the Bloodiness. xpand.
At this stage in their career, it should be apparent that the sound of those early records isn't coming back. They've been a different band since 2003's breakthrough Sing the Sorrow and haven't looked back since, morphing from youthful hardcore to dramatic goth to this, a punk-influenced take on new wave and post-punk.
AFI's seventh album, Decemberunderground (2006), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit single "Miss Murder", which topped the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart and reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. AFI (The Blood Album) follows in the same vein, with nods to the old days few and far between, as they wander off into some of their most tempered down material to date. While some of it lacks creativity, expression, and comes off a tad bland, you do get a sense of what could have been, had they just unchained themselves a bit more. Ironically, the songs that stand out the most here are the ones that ape tracks off Sing The Sorrow. A lot of this album just begs to beaten aggressively. These songs felt like the ideal opportunity to go back to the days of Black Sails In The Sunset just based on their musical structures alone. we'd have a big winner on our hands. Instead, all we're left with is some safe, catchy tunes and again, the afterthought of what could have been.

Blood Album isn’t quite as poppy as Crash Love or Decemberunderground, or as brooding as Burials, which results in an extremely uneven sound, with two distinct styles fighting for supremacy. The biggest fault with The Blood Album is that there’s zero fresh ideas, and there’s no ambition; saying AFI is on autopilot on this record would be an insult to all the work autopilots do. I listened to Sing The Sorrow in anticipation for this record, and Silver and Cold has been stuck in my head ever since. Nothing on The Blood Album comes close to that level of memorable; even the lowest moments on the record are bad in a completely forgettable way.
