Here's a time capsule of charming Depression Era dance tunes recorded for English Decca between July 21, 1931 and October 17, 1935 by Roy Fox ("the Whispering Cornetist") and his orchestra. This chronologically jumbled assortment samples the Roy Fox orchestra's output from about their 20th session for Decca up until a couple of months before Fox crossed over to the HMV label. Like any other popular band on the scene in the first half of the '30s, Fox's orchestra purveyed a mixture of ballads, pop novelties and the occasional swatch of authentic swing.
