Symphony 2 in E Minor. It is still a very good work, to be sure, and it receives a rather fine performance here by David Hill. He is also captured in a relatively good sound - well-balanced and clear, though it lacks some power and dynamic range. As a coupling we get the sweet-toned Les angélus for voice and organ - again an appealing piece with some delectable harmonies, though overall a bit on the sugary side. Overall, though, this is a very recommendable disc, and my objections should be taken as so much nitpicking - as is, perhaps, taking too much notice of the relatively brief total playing time.

In 2003 German progressive rock band Inquire recorded an 18-minute version of Vierne's Organ Symphony No. 3 in F♯ minor, for their album Melancholia, remarking in the liner notes that "this symphony marks the beginning of a new movement, what we call 'rock and roll'.
