RA found Utopia moving away from the long, experimental instrumental jams that distinguished their first two albums, but what's surprising about it is how the group changed. Sure, the lineup was different but their approach changed on RA, as they moved away from prog rock and toward hard rock. In that regard, it makes sense that Rundgren's possessive has been stripped from Utopia's name, since the band no longer sounds like an indulgent spin-off of his own albums. RA has little to do with either Rundgren album that preceded or succeeded it. In fact, it's an anomaly in both.
The eye is the eye of Horus, the sun god of ancient Egypt. This eye represents an omniscient being that is able to see all at all times. Through the sun which is the eye of Horus or Ra, all things in the world are illuminated. Thus, they are seen by him. The Egyptians are known to have carved the eye into the sarcophagi of those who had passed away. This was so that the eye of Ra can shine a light and guide the souls of these people into the underworld. Thus, a person can have the tattoo of the eye of Ra on them to indicated that they are enlightened.
Ra is the right Eye of Horus, and is also the Sun God and the king of Gods in ancient Egyptian mythology. It is thus, sometimes called the 'all-seeing eye' (not to be confused with the Eye of Providence). In ancient Egyptian mythology, the Sun is awarded the greatest importance and occupies the highest level in the sky, from where it can keep an eye on the entire universe. This could then make it a symbol of protection and knowledge. The ancient Egyptian god, Ra, is depicted as a falcon with a sun disk on his head, that is surrounded by a cobra. This cobra is Wadjet, the goddess of Lower Egypt, and was also called the Eye of Ra or the daughter of Ra (according to one myth). Depicted as a cobra, she is seen placed next to her sister, Nekhbet, who is depicted as a vulture. The Eye of Ra depicted with Nekhbet (the vulture) and Wadjet (the cobra).
The Eye of Ra features in many myths, probably the most famous is the Destruction of Mankind, where Ra is angry that the people of Egypt no long worship him as they should. So he commands his daughter Hathor to turn into the fiery Eye of Ra, Sekhmet. Sekhmet kills the people who turned away from Ra, but has bloodlust and starts killing innocent people. Ra realising he messed up big time, conspires with the high priest of Iunu to brew a lot of red-coloured beer. Sekhmet drinks it - thinkings that it’s blood - gets drunk and falls asleep, reverting to the peaceful Hathor
