The Merrymen, sometimes written as The MerryMen, are a popular calypso band from Barbados. The Merrymen's career spans five decades, from the early-1960s to the 2000s. The Merrymen are still performing as of 2011. At their height they were popular not just throughout the Caribbean, but they had also managed to reach the number one spot on the charts of several European countries.

The Merrymen are still performing as of 2011 Their trademark sound is an upbeat form of calypso, reminiscent of what was popular in the Caribbean in the late-1960s and early-1970s, that samples liberally from Latin, funk, tuk and spouge musical styles. In addition to their characteristic sound, they are also known for the distinctive costumes they wear while performing and on their album and promotional photographs. The costumes are inspired by troubadour costumes from the High Middle Ages, a nod to one of the inspirations for their name (which may also refer to 14th century outlaws, or Robin Hood's band of "Merry Men"). The Merrymen have performed for British Royalty on three occasions.

on the album Bagnoli Rocks EP - The Jolly Roger : Looking for potential movie soundtracks, I stumbled upon "Bagnoli Rocks". I can perfectly imagine some tracks in the album as part of a movie soundtrack. However that does not apply to all tracks and I don't know if this is the reason, but I felt many tracks were too long, such as "Radio Transmissions" which could benefit from a shorter duration. The electronic sounds, on the other hand, did not bother me at all. I especially liked the gritty and dark reality some tracks conveyed, which brings us to the album cover and.
The Best of the Merrymen. It is 34 kilometres in length and up to 23 km in width, Barbados is outside of the principal Atlantic hurricane belt. Inhabited by Kalinago people since the 13th century, and prior to that by other Amerindians, Barbados was visited by Spanish navigators in the late 15th century and it first appeared in a Spanish map in 1511
Under Jolly Roger is an album by Running Wild, released in 1987. It’s considered the first ‘pirate metal’ album, because of the front cover and some songs on the album. But how does ‘pirate metal’ sound". Well, let me start saying that ‘pirate metal’ isn’t really a sub-genre of heavy metal music. It’s about beggars who are tired of being beaten up, and they want to take revenge on the rulers. The song has great galloping riffs, guitar solo’s and vocal melodies. One of the best songs on the album. Now another pirate-song: Diamond Of The Black Chest. This one is about treasure-hunting.
